Guide to Board Features
To ensure convenience and efficiency for members, Veritas Falsus bears a number of board features that may be unfamiliar to you. These additions are here to maximize the usefulness and usability of the infrastructure, so we'd like to see everybody using them. To this end, here are introductions to the tags, the tabbed forums, and the quick account switcher.
Tags
You may have already noticed the bar at the bottom of threads with a number of words listed. These are tags. Tags are keywords that are directly related to the topic of the thread. And by clicking on a tag, you can view all threads with the associated keyword. This will help you efficiently sift through threads that pertain to your interests. Looking for a character? Search her tag. Maybe the use of a power, search the power's tag. Or maybe you cannot find the rules. Tag search! It'll be there. You can even see which keywords appear the most - just check the tag cloud. All of you (the members) have the capability to add tags when you create a thread.
It is strenuously recommended (read: required) that you do so. When entering tags, please make sure that they are spelled correctly. If you are trying to type an existing tag, the field will attempt to autocomplete for you. Separate tags with commas.
For examples of tags, please see the VF tag cloud, located
here.
Tabbed Forums
So. You've registered and you're ready to explore the site. You've posted your character, he or she was approved, and now there is only one thing left to do: role play. But where did those admins hide the in-character areas? The area isn't hidden, but rather filed away. Veritas Falsus makes use of three tabs on the top of the forum home, each of which house different parts of the site: the out-of-character forums (including rules and registration, the lounge, and advertising), the in-character forums (play areas), and the archives (dead threads and characters). Technologically, each forum list is shorter and easier to load, and organizationally, each area has a clearly defined space.
Quick Account Switcher
The quick account switcher is a handy feature if you play more than one character and thus have more than one account. By adding the username and password of another account in the "Link Another User's Account" field of the User CP, you obtain instant access to your other accounts. Once you have submitted the username and password, you will be able to switch to another account by clicking on the dropdown arrow next to your username in the "Welcome" box at the top of each page. The list will show all your linked accounts, and you can just click on the name to instantly log into that account. It even maintains the same loaded page.
Personal Notepad
In your UserCP, you may have noticed that you have an area called your "Personal Notepad." This is your place to put stuff without anyone else reading it. We encourage all members to use this space when they need it. If you are working on a post and want a place to save, feel free to post it in the Personal Notepad; if you are working on an application design or idea but don't want anyone to see it yet, feel free to use that space. The Personal Notepad is yours to play with however you like.
