Q: What is this new forum devilry?

We use vBulletin at Veritas Falsus. For those that are not used to it, vB is one of the leading proprietary forum software out there, and we're confident that you'll grow to love it, if you don't already. It's loaded with a lot of cool goodies and easter eggs. It does everything short of dispensing your coffee (I think they're working on that).

Q: Gah, why can't I spam your shoutbox as a guest?

That's what this forum is for, dear.

We use an integrated shoutbox so we don't have to register/keep track of names, plus it affords us cool features, such as actions, private shouting, post/reply notification, notifications for post milestones, quick editing, and easy administrative features that let us keep it cool and spiffy. Unfortunately, due to limitations with the programming (and because names are parsed and stored in the database as your userID), we can't allow guests to post.

But on the other hand, we really don't want your three shouts about how gorgeous we are (we know) and how you're totally joining (thanks, btw), no offense. If you have any urgent questions or pressing concerns and you aren't registered, feel free to post here in this forum. If it's private, feel free to use the Contact Us link in the footer, that will send you directly to the admin forum.

Q: So whoa, just what are you guys?

We don't like to classify ourselves, really. We share some elements with sci-fi, fantasy, cyberpunk, and postmodern roleplay. We prefer to layout the framework for our realm ahead of time and build upon it. If you like what we're doing here, feel free to join. If what we're doing makes you go, "WTF?!" then don't feel pressured to join, whatever.

Now if you mean 'what are we guys' more literally, I personally suspect everyone here is human. I have not verified.

Q: What do I register as?

We encourage you to make a canon, but it isn't mandatory. You may create an original in groups that are currently accepting originals; some groups and affiliations, however, will only accept canon characters. Check out our listed canons here.

Also for those people who haven't noticed from the names in the What's Going On Box at the bottom of the forum home or didn't take a look through the rules (you really should), we want you to register with your character's first and last name. This is flexible however. If your character has a nickname that he or she uses more predominantly than his or her first name, then feel free to use it. You don't have to and it's completely up to you. But don't register with your first, middle, and last name just to be cool or different, because that's neither cool nor all that different.

And registering with just your first or just your last name isn't cool either, unless you're Madonna or Pele.

Neither is registering with a name that's longer than a country mile; yes I'm talking to you, Spanish naming policies!

Q: What do I do after I register?

Post your application and await approval. We ask that you don't post elsewhere until your character is approved, if only because if you abandon your application, or if it's rejected (we hope not), we'll have to end up deleting your account, and if you posted all over the place, we'll have to go clean up a bunch of posts without an owner anymore (boo!).

You can, however, feel free to chat in the shoutbox, that place gets cleaned out every now and again anyway.

Feel free to drop a post in here. Otherwise, we prefer if you use the Contact Us page for any general administrative inquiries rather than running around trying to hunt down an admin. We find that questions usually get answered faster that way and with less drama. If you're a mercenary dramatist (of real life affairs), go away plzkthxbai.
