Veritas Falsus takes place in the year 2027 in the remnants of the New York metropolitan area (including New Jersey). It is a post-apocalyptic world, with the world crumbling from bombs and disuse. The old buildings that used to dot the New York cityscape are in varying states of decay and collapse. Most of the buildings in the area are nothing more than large heaps of rubble, and the few that are left tend to look like swiss cheese. It is impossible to tell where one building ends and the other begins.

Old stone and steel debris litter the cracked and shifted earth, and the terrain is so uneven that it is literally difficult to traverse the streets. In fact, many of the streets are hard to find, considering they are buried beneath such a large pile of rubble that the streets and the old buildings have blended into a similarly hazardous pile of debris.

Depending on where you are, there may be varying threats from walkers, gangs, hegemons, fortress humans, or even unscrupulous stragglers.
